Sunday At St. Regis

I’m not exaggerating
when I say there are a lot
of women in my family.

Don’t get me wrong, we have some amazing men in our tribe {who all happen to be amazing cooks as well, lucky us!}, but most women in my family seem to give birth to … more women. My grandmother had quite a few sisters, my mother is one of two girls, she gave birth to me and my sister, and my sister had (you guessed it) a girl, too. As you can imagine the feminine energy is on 10 whenever we get together for holidays and celebrations. I love it. There’s so much beauty, wisdom, comfort, joy, and an abundance of faith and encouragement. Yet, when I think back, the best part of any gathering with my ladies is the laughter. We’re always laughing. No matter how tired, stressed, disheartened, or blue we may have been feeling, when we come together our light overpowers our dark. Always.

So when we got together for our annual Christmas brunch this year at the St. Regis in Atlanta, there was incessant waves of erratic laughter. Whether it’s me and my niece laughing over the 30 minutes we spend taking photos in the bathroom, my mother and sister chuckling over their inside jokes, or my aunt firing off one of her hilarious stories, we can’t help but be giddy around one another. You’ll often find my stepfather sneaked off in a corner somewhere acting like we’re ridiculous (see photos), but we all know he thinks we’re hilarious :). I’m always thrilled to get dolled up with my family and enjoy delicious food, strong drinks, and hilarious trips down memory lane. I’m also a sucker for a beautiful hotel at Christmas time, icing on the cake, xoxo.
