Firefly is something of a Vegas staple. As far back as I can remember it’s just always been here, albeit moving a time or two. Yet, in my 10+ years in Vegas, I only recently stopped in to try their beloved happy hour. $7 tapas, $9 sangria, for a spot near The Strip it’s a decent price. The atmosphere was livelier than I expected, and the service fairly swift. Though I enjoyed my eclectic order of fried calamari, spicy shrimp, and season fries, it was sthe complimentary bread and butter that took me by surprise.
The bread was your standard sourdough. The butter, though? Ahh. A savory sweet swipe of richness I couldn’t stop eating. I have no idea what was in it (tomato, fig?), I’ll have to ask next time, but good Lord was it delightful. I’ve dined in quite a few Vegas restaurants where the bread basket and artisanal butters have become a priced appetizer, foregoing the hospitality of a complimentary dish. This complimentary bread at Firefly far exceed priced bread baskets I’ve enjoyed elsewhere. Very much worth its salt (or sugar? I still don’t know what’s in that butter. Will ask soon).
Would I order it again? Considering it’s complimentary, I would certainly enjoy this again. As for everything else, while good, the menu is expansive enough I’d rather try something new. Though, the fries were quite delicious.
